Research Associate

Buyouts Insider is seeking a dynamic and driven individual to help us streamline our vast quantities of proprietary data on the institutional investor community.  Buyouts Insider, is a financial services-focused data and event company with the strongest brands in our respective niches covering private equity and venture capital.  Our conference business leads the pack with editorially driven agendas, topflight speakers and a private meeting program we pioneered almost 10 years ago that have helped PE and VC firms raise billions of dollars.  

Job Summary:

This position will help grow our conference, sales, marketing and editorial operations by obtaining up-to-date information, and knowledge about new industry participants in the PE and VC communities.

The Research Associate will work closely with our award-winning conferences and editorial teams.  Duties will range from scouring the internet for new lists of investors; to calling prospective clients to discover more about their appetite to invest in the asset class; to inviting them to speak at and attend our events; to creating reports for use by our sales and marketing teams; to assisting in the administration of our industry-leading capital-introduction meetings program.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish contact (through phone and email outreach) with senior level private equity and VC investors
  • Explain to prospective clients what we do at our PartnerConnect conferences and ask them to attend and speak
  • Help manage and maintain our growing investor database
  • Research new investors who could become part of our network
  • Create reports and studies out of our data which feed our editorial team’s data-journalism objectives
  • Client communications and on-site administration for our 1-on-1 meetings program at our conferences
  • Additional Responsibilities:

The Individual:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, driven, goal-oriented and able to go the extra mile to achieve both individual and team target;
  • Great at detailed tasks, well-organized, and able to work on projects alone and within a small-company, team environment
  • Client-focused every step of the way; you will be dealing with high finance decision makers who are demanding– you need to be adroit at always handling them in a professional, courteous manner while driving to get to your goals
  • Outgoing, relationship-orientated, eager to get on the phone every day and talk to our network of investors
  • Flexible and tenacious enough to be an integral part of a team, not just someone who only wants to do what’s in their job description and go home


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two to four years in the financial services industry and knowledge of the Private Equity/Venture Capital industry is preferred
  • Direct experience maintaining or analyzing databases is preferred
  • Computer proficiency is essential; Excel proficiency mandatory

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of principles and concepts in corporate finance, business statistics and financial accounting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to create tables and charts to showcase data, infographics a plus.
