Director, Instructor Led Training

Job Summary

The Director, Instructor-Led Training (ILT), is responsible for the Simplify Compliance Instructor-Led Training portfolio, setting strategy, implementing activities and services that provide value to clients and learners, promote customer retention and growth, and drive revenue generation.

The position is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of instructor-led training programs across multiple-markets including, but not limited to, Human Capital Management, Healthcare, Environmental Health & Safety, and Leadership.

In partnership with multiple product and revenue cycle stakeholders including sales, marketing and content/editorial, the position will be responsible for owning the P&L and strategic roadmap for the delivery of ILT programs and services.

The position will report to the Chief Product Officer.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly manage a team of Instructors, Program Managers, and Product Managers responsible for all facets of programming, design, scheduling, delivery, engagement and revenue generation across ILT offerings.

  • As a general leader within the company, ensure that the entire organization understands the master product roadmap for ILT in context of overall product strategy, how that roadmap reflects our understanding of the current and future market demands, and how other company stakeholders can influence the roadmap and development pipeline priorities.

  • Manage instructor schedules, including full-time staff as well as per diem instructors, to ensure they are optimized to deliver the highest value for our clients and Simplify Compliance.

  • In partnership with Marketing and Sales, develop strategies to generate ILT opportunities through the creation and delivery of marketing collateral and direct and indirect sales activities.

  • Lead the analysis of market & trend data, and make recommendations concerning ILT innovation strategy, including but not limited to organic product development and acquisition or partnership strategies.

  • Work closely with colleagues in other product groups (Professional Development, eLearning, etc.) to ensure the instructors are providing high value-add activities in developing content and providing expert analysis for other Simplify Compliance product offerings.

  • Ensure a culture of service to clients is preserved and promoted, and that the strategic plan, services and programs reflect Simplify Compliance’s commitment to understanding and increasing customer value.

  • Develop, manage and report on Key Performance Indicators including, but not limited to Number of Members, Revenue, Renewal Rates, Average Member Price/Member Spend and Member Engagement.

  • Provide training, cross-training, and development to staff as needed to optimize schedules and drive results.

    Monitor contracts with external vendors, partners, topic/market experts, contractors to develop programming and experiences that maximize the value for clients and generate revenue for the business.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree required, master’s degree preferred.

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a training management role, previous experience managing a team of trainers required.

  • Financial management skills in building metrics around product portfolio, experience managing a P&L of $1M or larger helpful

  • Strong Communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and geographically dispersed work environment

The Individual

  • 5+ years of professional training experience

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, performance management, and coaching techniques.

  • Comfortable working in a matrix organization

  • The ability to cross-functionally collaborate, innovate, coordinate and influence across product, content and revenue cycle stakeholders

  • Ability to manage a large and diverse product portfolio working in a fast-paced environment and demonstrating superior multi-tasking and time management capabilities.

  • Strong project planning, critical thinking and problem solving skills with a self-directed entrepreneurial spirit.
